Interpreting SEO tips

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Friday 15 October 2010 8:24 am

Search engine optimization is an economic sector which puts quite a lot of information into the public domain. In general, this openness has to be regarded as a positive thing. However, it does not mean that there are no problems with the blogs and articles which are scattered all over the net. It is easy for those new to the field to become confused by the amount of data available. There are various reasons why confusion can arise and why the SEO tips may not be applicable to the task of improving the fortunes of a specific site. This does not mean that site owners should refrain from reading about the discipline, but it does mean that independent activity is a potential minefield.

At netztrack.com we make a concerted effort to share some of our knowledge. This is because we are concerned with establishing positive relationships with clients, while improving the reputation of our industry.

There are various dilemmas associated with interpreting tips. They make learning problematic and are one reason behind the fact that optimization has to be based on merging theory with practice. These dilemmas of interpretation are not just the usual suspects involved in learning about any subject and the following list may serve to underline this:

• Optimization has elements of art and science. Just like an art, some aspects of it can be interpreted from a variety of competing perspectives. Like a science, there are parts of optimization which are susceptible to measurement and categorisation. If optimization can sound hard to get your head around, it may be that it is because it is
• SEO is often being sold like any other online commodity. This can distort the information which is being offered in subtle ways. For example, many firms wish to distance themselves from unethical optimization techniques and they do not always come clean about those areas of vagueness which may be described as the ‘grey hat’ territory
• Due to the swift movement of the ‘search world’, in terms of changing algorithms, fluctuating market share of search engines and the evolution of social media networking sites, it is possible to get completely wrongheaded advice online. Practices which used to yield very positive results do not get them anymore. In truth some of them risk incurring search engine penalties. Checking the date of content production can be a shrewd move to make
• One problem with learning online is that optimization techniques must be adjusted in line with the individual needs of a site. This means that being clear about the features of and issues with a site is very much required
• A final difficulty is that anyone can write about the topic and get it posted on a blog. Some individuals who pose as experts not only have no practical experience, but they also have done little critical thinking with regard to optimization. It is always worth interrogating sources in a critical way and matching their accuracy against other information sources. It is also worth seeking clarification where necessary from a bona fide firm.

SEO Pro Tip: Use Google Blogs to Find Fresh, Relevant Blog Posts for Link-Building

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Thursday 14 October 2010 9:42 am

Link-building is one of the most important aspects of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It seems that there are SEOs these days who would like to see blog and forum commenting done away with completely, but I disagree with that (as I imagine most people actually doing SEO full-time today do as well). It can be a challenge to find good, relevant, non-spammy blogs to either guest post on or leave genuine feedback on, so I hope this method helps out a few of you who are faced with the timeless and inevitable challenge of building links. In order of steps:

1 – Visit Google Blogs.

2 – Type in one of the keyword terms that the content on your landing page focuses on. Don’t be afraid to use quotes around your keyword term if it contains more than one word. Ex. “Nickel Cadmium”

3 – On the left-hand column, you can sort your results by time/date. I usually like to start with “last hour,” then work my way down to “past week.” This will allow you to find fresh, hyper-targeted blog posts to browse through and cherry-pick the best-of-the-best!

When you do this, make sure that you’re not just picking spam-filled blogs that scrape content from somewhere on the Web. It’s pretty easy to figure out which blogs are spam/auto blogs due to how they look, how their content reads and how their content is formatted. Because the content you will be finding is so new, it won’t behoove you to check out any of the metrics that exist for gauging the strength of a page, so if you’re concerned about that, just go take a look at the home page of the site and gather all the metrics you typically do (PageRank, mozRank, mozTrust, Alexa Rank, Compete score, et al).

Additionally, if you want to see how that site’s content typically performs, try using SEOmoz’s Open Site Explorer to find the strongest pages and number of unique root domains linking to them. If you don’t know how to do that, then go to Open Site Explorer (sign up for a free account so that you can view stats for 20 pages), search for the domain you’re interested in (don’t forget to consider both www and non-www versions of the site if they don’t 301), then click the “Top Pages” tab in the results. Voila!

As for “nofollow” and “dofollow,” it’s your judgment call. Do you want to have a more natural-looking link profile? If so, then just go ahead and leave comments (not spammy, of course — always make your comments constructive and relevant) on some “nofollow” blogs. Do you only need “dofollow” links? If so, then your blog searching will inevitably be a bit more exhaustive (hopefully, you’re using something like the SEOmoz Firefox plug-in to quickly see which sites/blogs are “nofollow”). Although commenting will suffice, one of the best things you could do is ask to guest post on that blog and provide an article based on the topic you’re interested in; so, take that into consideration, too.

That pretty much does it for the method I wanted to demonstrate in this post. For your consideration, I’ve decided to add a few additional tips below that will play well with this method. I hope that you find them useful in correlation with the method above and/or with your other link-building endeavors. Good luck and have fun searching!

Bonus Tip 01: If you do decide to leave a comment on a blog, try submitting that blog’s home page and RSS URL to pinging services like Ping-O-Matic and Pingoat. There’s no guarantee that the result will be Google’s bot revisiting that blog and finding your comment any faster than if you hadn’t submitted the blog, but it takes all of 15 seconds each to submit and you very well may be doing yourself a favor by doing so!

Bonus Tip 02: If you are curious as to seeing if/when Google has cached a page with your comment, simply search for that page in Google, click “cached,” then look up at the top where it says, “…a snapshot of the page as it appeared on…” The time and date you see will be the most recent cache of that page! If the time and date are later than the time and date you commented, then scroll down and see if your comment was cached along with the page.

Bonus Tip 03: Set up Google Alerts and have Google email you whenever they index a new blog post related to a keyword term you’re interested in! Simply visit Google Alerts, put in your keyword term, select “Blogs” from the type selection box, select how often you want to receive results, then select the volume of results you want and enter your email address and you’re all set!

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Thursday 14 October 2010 8:07 am

Although there are a multitude of Firefox plugins helpful for SEO, this article will showcase the ones that are used almost day by day and really could make your life much harder if would not be available.

We should start with the most popular one nowadays, SEOQuake. This plugin is amazing if you look at the incredible amount of information it features about analysed websites. It is not good only for root domains but also great for individual pages from a blog/site. By using it you get instant access to page page rank, Yahoo backlinks, Google index, domain age, source, description, keywords, titles, keyword density and many others, fantastic information for any SEO. Moreover, if it is activated while you do a search all the data from top results can be integrated in that very page and then sort by PR, backlinks or any other parameter you might find helpful. It also has a feature to show whether a link is nofollow or do follow.

Aaron Wall’s Rank Checker is another definitely awesome tool for a daily basis usage. It is great for checking keywords ranks on Google, Yahoo and Microsoft Live. The great thing about it is that you can export your results in a CSV document and whenever you are doing a check on your rankings in the future you can compare them with the actual rankings. Awesome tool.

SEO for Firefox is another brilliant tool that can create impressive reports with data like Google page rank, Yahoo links, .edu links, Dmoz presence etc, mostly as SEO Quake does. However this one has the advantage of providing instant access to other SEO tools for keyword research, Google trends and traffic estimator, and a great feature is that all the data can be exported to CSV.

Flagfox is great for finding out the current server’s physical location where the website is hosted. Not only that, but Flagfox also shows the ISP, who is and DNS, page code validation, pings and tracerouts and many others.

So here they are, four awesome Firefox plugins for every SEO to make full use of. The list could go on and on while there are literally hundreds of plugins like those, however they are some of the greatest ones we have worked with so far.

3 Ways To Promote Your Website Promotions

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Thursday 14 October 2010 7:19 am

Website promotions are some of the easiest and cost effective ways to promote your business. There are many ways to do this and bring quality traffic to your site. Always remember that your website is like your storefront. Before you start your promotions, be sure that your website looks professional. It should also have good interesting content that your visitors will enjoy. A good sales letter is vital to your business success. It should also have an informative page and a form to contact you.

One of the first website promotions you will do is submit your site to the search engines. To do this you should:

Write some interesting website content that is optimized. Write a variety of articles on different aspects of your business. Include product reviews as these are very popular and will help you to sell your products. Optimizing means making your content keyword rich but not stuffed. To do this, you must do your keyword research for your business. You can do this at goodkeywords.com

Insert Meta tags into your HTML: Nowadays, a good title and descriptive Meta tags are what counts. These are just small pieces of HTML that guide the search engine bots and give them information to take back to their databases for indexing purposes.

Submit your site: The biggest search engines are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. You have to pay to submit to Yahoo now, but the other 2 are free. Once you build back your links, it is very likely that you will find your website in Yahoo without having to pay for it. When you submit to these 3 search engines, you do not really have to submit to any other ones. Google is the biggest, Yahoo comes second, and MSN is third in size and effectiveness. It is good to aim for the top 10 positions or first page of these search engines.

The second thing to do is to set up a blog. A blog is a small diary written on a daily basis. Write short interesting blogs that your visitors will enjoy. Always remember to make one link that goes back to your content pages. This can be a new article or a brand new product. This can be done on blogspot.com. This site belongs to Google and is regularly crawled by their Google bots. This means that the bots will follow your links and find your pages of content at your site. You can get new content indexed within 48 hours in this way.

Article distribution is easy and very powerful. Again, you can write some good articles on different subjects which will attract different segments of your niche market. Use a service or software to distribute them. Grant reprint rights to your entire article web content and also the ones that you distribute. Remember to use a few bios to target the right audience. As well as bringing warm, ready to buy visitors with article distribution, you will also accumulate valuable back links. These will help you to get a better position in the search engines.

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Wednesday 13 October 2010 8:12 am

I am sure you have heard a lot of talk about blogs and I am not just referring to the Gossip Blogs, I am referring to business blogging. A role a lot of businesses has taken on because of it multiple benefits. A blog plays a significant role in boosting your SEO, but it also helps to build relationships, establish yourself as an expert and keep people tuned in to your website that can lead to increase conversions and sales if executed effectively. Today I want to share the top five ways a blog helps to boost your SEO efforts

Automatic SEO – A blog can be configured to automatically optimize any content that you add. It is extremely search engine friend and it creates unique page urls.
Link Building – You create links several ways with a blog. If your blog posts are great, people will link to it, they will bookmark it, share it with a friend or with their social network. Secondly, when you create a blog, you link to other pages on your website that directly relates to the blog post.
Keyword Tags – When you create a blog post, you can add as many keyword tags to that blog as possible. Keep it related though for it to be effective.
Content – Search Engines love fresh content. This is probably one of the most important roles a blog plays; it allows you to easily add fresh content to your website. Even if it’s a couple paragraphs. Most importantly, blogs have plug-ins that automatically ping the search engines to let them know that your website has been updated, so that they can come back to crawl your website each time a post has been added.
Blog Comments – If visitors are commenting on your blog, most likely they will use keywords or keyword phrases that are related to the blog topic in the post that you may have or may not have used, which will increase your keyword density on the page, which in turn increases your chances of being found for that keyword
Get Found Online – Getting found online is a bonus from having a blog, so many people that I speak to, who don’t have seo, but has a business blog, is able to show up on search engines results, by using effective blogging tactics, such as included keywords that their target market will use to find them in the blog title and throughout the posting.
