Is Google Page Rank important?

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Friday 28 January 2011 6:45 am

The Google page rank is one of those things which your Search Engine Optimizers crave for. The real fact is that there is no real importance for page rank from SEO point of view. The real meaning of Page Rank is that it denotes everyone that how important your website is. Your website can get page rank if it has got enough useful content, if it is getting targeted traffic and most important lots of backlinks from other websites. It’s not that easy as you may find because the backlinks which you get from a website must also have a good page rank. So in short it’s a lengthy process.

Here we can compare the inbound links as votes and thus more the votes more you will get the page rank. You can view your websites or any other websites page rank just by installing the Google page rank toolbar. If installed in your browser it will show an extra bar where it will show your website rating between 1to10. More the rating means better your ranking. The more links you get from higher PageRank websites, the less links you have to garner in order to attain a higher PageRank.

There are many people who have written many books and conducted research on how to get your page rank and its importance. But as per my findings I think Page Rank is not of that great importance when it comes to Search Engine point of view. It’s good from a point of view and that’s if you have to sell your existing domain to someone else then a web page with higher page rank can get a better price. Apart from it there’s no real use of Google page rank in search engine optimization. The only thing worth knowing is that you should get inbound links from trusted websites that get lots of targeted traffic — this is the only thing that matter as far as your PageRank goes.

Earlier the page rank was given a lot of value by the search engine optimizers but nowadays a page rank is hardly taken into consideration. The website can be brought to the first search engine rankings for their keywords even if the PageRank of the website in 1. So don’t just run behind page rank concentrate on proper SEO and our website will be automatically listed.

Courting Bloggers

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Tuesday 14 September 2010 6:26 am

Due to the proliferation of blogs with spam content and blogs that are created to simply bloat the number of links pointing to a site, it is no wonder that people have perceived links coming from blogs to be of less value than they were before. The good news though is that according to Bill Slawski’s post entitled “Do Search Engines Love Blogs? Microsoft Explores an Algorithm to Increase PageRank for Pages Linked to by Blogs” search engines may actually still attach value to links from blogs. The reason for this is that according to Microsoft the still assume that the majority of blogs are indeed human-authored and that the authors do link to websites that they sincerely endorse.

What this means for those with flagging energy and enthusiasm when it comes to asking for links from bloggers is that you do need to keep at it since it DOES help your overall SEO campaign. Remember though that you still want to focus your link building campaign to links that would add the most value so that simply gathering links from the millions of blogs is simply inefficient. So if you do want to court bloggers to linking to your website remember to target blogs that are:

  • similar in theme/topic to your website’s content – Realistically most of the blogs that will link to you will NOT rank well for the search terms you target but what’s important is to get linked to by as much similarly themed blogs (and websites) as possible so as to reinforce relevance. Of course being linked to by a blog of similar theme that ranks really well in SERPs is even better.
  • Popular – Look at the number of subscribers! With these blogs it is a good idea to be an active member of the comment section. Even if you do not get the attention of the blog author you just might get the attention of the other commenters.
  • Going to link to you on the actual post – Being blogrolled is good but being mentioned in an actual post is better. Remember the placement of the link matters.

Keyword Competitiveness

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Friday 3 September 2010 5:46 am

In one of my earlier post I have explained how important it is to target right kind of basic keywords especially in relevance to Yahoo and Google search engine. Even without search assist you must try giving more attention to more specialized keywords.

As we all know very generic keywords, though they do have a very large search volume, are very competitive in terms of the number of websites that are optimising for that site. This means nothing but that even if you do proper search engine optimization the chances of getting your website to the top10 or even to first few pages becomes difficult.

For example, if you have a website about Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) and target the following search terms you will see the difference in number of results from Google. Note that while some website are listed more than twice the number still reflects the amount of competition you can expect for that search term.

Prader Willi syndrome – 319,000
Prader willi syndrome diet – 50,700
prader willi syndrome support group – 28,300
PWS – 8,290,000
PWS diet – 58,400
PWS support group – 633,000.

As you can see the simple addition of the words diet and support group makes a huge difference. It is also obvious that the acronym PWS is also more competitive. The reason for this is that PWS does not only stand for Prader Willi Syndrome but for a whole slew of other things, including the highly competitive term personal web server. I can only imagine a business with initials S.E.O fighting with SEO sites to get to the top results!

In short make sure you also optimise for more specific related keywords.

Making the most of link purchases – SEO

Posted by admin | SEO Reseller | Thursday 2 September 2010 7:22 am

Purchasing links (this actually means paying the other webmasters to put your link on their popular web pages) is an integral part of Internet marketing these days. I’m not going to go into the right and wrong of this exercise, at least at this moment. Buying link space on other websites is prevalent. It pays, and helps you improve your overall search engine ranking. Less popular websites can share the limelight with more popular websites by putting their links on those websites.

When paying for links the ROI should justify the expense, and sometimes it can be lots of expense, depending upon the popularity of the website publishing your link. You cannot control the number of hits, or the ranking numbers that you get from those links, but you can certainly make sure that once people visit your website through those external links a majority of them perform the desired actions, may it be consuming your content, clicking on ads, dropping you their email addresses, hiring you or buying from you. So before starting your link purchase campaign you should take care of the following:

• Well-structured sitemap: It’s very important that your visitors can visit all the relevant sections of your website from any part of your website. Nowhere they should feel lost. Sometimes they get frustrated and leave the website even when they are eager to transact with the website owner.

• Lean, fast-loading pages: It shouldn’t take those ages to load the page. Even if you have some heavy pages with large, high-resolution images or videos, give them on option to go to those pages after arriving at a fast loading page.

• Headings to highlight: Most people that come from other web pages are in a hurry, whatever is the reason. If your landing page has lots of text — big paragraphs — without highlights and headlines, they are going to feel intimidated and leave. Using headings to highlight the main purpose for the existent of the page lets them know immediately what you have for them. After that it’s up to them what they want to do.

Purchasing links from other websites not only help you improve your ranking it also sends lots of relevant traffic your way. Don’t let that traffic go to waste by ignoring what they experience once they are on your website.
